It started back in March when they drew my name for one of the best units in the world on the San Carlos. In shock and full of excitement I knew we had a mountain to climb. With shed season opening the next month we started a week late but came out with three sets: a 370, 380 and monster 430 set. We knew we had to find the biggest bull. Scouting has always been the key for our team, “Team NHA”, Native Hunting Adventure, and we put in hundreds of dollars in food, gas and time away from our families, but as you see, it always pays off. 

July came so quickly and the scouting began. We watched a lot of bulls but knew the bull we were looking for was a 420+ bull and that was our goal. September came rolling in with no sign of the giant bull. We scouted area after area, trying to pin down where he would rut. As my season began and we started hunting, I passed numerous 350-380 class bulls with the old Hoyt, just waiting for “The Freak”.
