Kenetrek Corrie 3.2 Hiker

I mentioned in previous boot reviews that I’ve really gravitated towards ultralight hikers over the last few years.  “A pound on your feet is like 10 on your back” is what the old backpackers used to say and I’m a firm believer in this adage. With this being said, it is important to keep in mind that depending on your body structure, there is such a thing as too light when it comes to boots/footwear, too. The 3.2 signifies the boot’s weight, compared to the Mountain Extreme mountain boots from Kenetrek at almost 4 pounds. The Corrie 3.2 Hikers are a 7” boot that is perfect for early season use or late season use when using gaiters, especially if you need more support than what an ultralight hiker provides yet don’t want a stiff and heavy mountain boot. The midsole is Kenetrek’s Mountain Boot last for stability. The Corrie’s are waterproof, too, using a Windtex® waterproof breathable flexible membrane and they use a lightweight Grapon outsole for excellent traction in varied conditions. I used these runnin’ and gunnin’ on a spring turkey hunt in Wyoming’s Black Hills where the conditions are very similar to elk hunting in September. They performed perfectly and were that perfect bridge between ultralight hikers and heavier mountain boots. The Corrie’s are $275 on Kenetrek’s website, at the Kenetrek Visitor Center in Belgrade, MT, or you can find them at retailers across the country. Go to www.kenetrek.com/tools/store-locator/ to find a dealer near you. Get prepared. Stay prepared. Hunt hard!
