Go Left!

I grew up in North Dakota, where we hunted whitetail deer in the rut of November. Let’s just say I have killed my fair share of nice whitetail. Between my wife and I, we both have one mounted on the wall. So, when I moved to Wyoming right out of high school my dream was to hunt a mule deer in the wilderness. I have hunted many elk but have not had the opportunity for a deer in the high-country. I usually hope to get lucky and find one in the lowlands in the northeast corner of the state; however, I usually just end up filling my tag in the Black Hills with a whitetail. This year I finally made up my mind and applied for a trophy mule deer tag.
After talking to some of my buddies about impossible mule deer tags to draw. I decided to put in for area 128, type one deer tag. It appears it had a less than one percent drawing odds, but I thought what the hell, we do not put in for any limited-draw deer tags anyway. My wife usually does all the applications for our elk and antelope tags, so she continued with these deer tags as well. Normally both she and I put in for party tags, but for some reason the system was not working, and we ended up putting in for them separately. The low odds were in my favor this year and I was ecstatic to have the opportunity.
