Founder: Mike Eastman
Mike didn't move West to become an authority on trophy hunting. He's a fifth-generation westerner. As a kid in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, he lived just two blocks from a wintering herd of 8,000 elk, the largest in North America. He grew up exploring the backcountry of the West at the elbow of his dad, Gordon Eastman, the legendary outdoorsman. By the time he was 14, Mike was filming western big game for his father.
As a boy, he was fascinated in learning the ways of trophy mule deer. Growing up in one of the West's best trophy hunting areas, he took several large deer and elk while still in his teens.
Mike Eastman has always lived within bugling distance of trophy animals. In fact, very few days in the past 45 years of Mike's life have not been spent outdoors, either observing, filming, studying, or stalking big game species. Simply put, he knows how to find the big ones.
In addition to the Eastmans' Hunting Journal, and Eastmans' Bowhunting Journal, Mike also produces a top-rated show on the Outdoor Channel called Eastmans' Hunting TV. He is also a best-selling author of the book, Hunting High Country Mule Deer, now in its fifth printing. Mike has also put all of his elk hunting know-how into another best-selling book, Elk Hunting the West, the Eastman Way. Among his other accomplishments are 16 videos, 11 DVDs, and 2 compilation books of stories from the Eastmans' Hunting Journal.
When Mike isn't editing TV shows and DVD's, he spends his spare time reading, fishing, and filming and photographing wildlife. He also enjoys playing with his grandson, Jack, and granddaughter, Rose.
