It’s hard to quantify and put into words something that you will only get to do once in your life. While I hope to be able to hunt desert bighorn sheep again in my lifetime, it will never happen in my home state of Colorado. A once-in-a-lifetime hunt carries a sense of excitement only rivaled by the reverence of wanting to do it right. By that I mean I wanted a true wilderness adventure for a mature ram. Fred Bear once said, “A hunt based only on trophies taken falls far short of what the ultimate goal should be.” Because I wholeheartedly agree on the experience aspect of the hunt, if this was a tag I was going to fill, it had to be the right ram.
