This hunt started out differently than the past three. Due to some logistics that were out of my control, we would be hunting a different section of the unit. I am grateful that my good friend, Jed Stevenson was able to clear his calendar, and would be joining me for a week of hunting in the high country of Colorado. We had never set foot in this part of the unit. For the past three months we had been pouring over Google Earth trying to determine the best spot for our base camp, and dreaming of the basins we would call home for the next seven days. Once the location was determined, we contacted the packer and arranged to be dropped 11.5 miles from the nearest trailhead. With base camp at 11,500’, we knew we were in for a grueling hunt.
