I’ll be the first to admit it – rain gear has always been an afterthought for me over the years. Why buy an expensive rainsuit when a military type poncho works just fine – or so I thought at the time. There’s nothing worse than preparing for an extended hunt when you’re full of excitement, you’ve compiled your gear but didn’t give much thought to your rain gear (heavy, noisy, bulky etc.). Now here’s the bummer – you get to your destination and the skies open up. It rains for hours, days or even weeks. If you are not prepared and ready to hunt in the rain, the financial burden of securing tags, gear, food, fuel etc. can seem inconsequential compared to the price of a good rain suit that would have kept you hunting in those conditions.
