MRS: Colorado Deer

If you were a deer last year and your address wasn’t Unit 54, 55, 551, 66 or 67 in the Gunnison Valley, you probably did OK. Most of the state had a tremendous snowpack that kept forage well-watered throughout the spring and deer were well-fed, growing good antlers. The Gunnison Valley units listed above saw deer license reductions of 50-85% and flyovers this year seem to confirm that only 15% of the fawns survived last year. With fewer licenses, it is now harder to draw there to hunt fewer deer.
